It’s time for some Spring cleaning! If you want to make some room for your warm weather clothes then I’d suggest you take a look inside your closet and decide what stays and what goes. Get ready for your best closet cleanout yet! You’ll feel great after looking at your clean and organized closet once you're done, but first, here’s all the info you’ll need about cleaning your closet simply and efficiently.
1. Take out EVERYTHING
The best way to know what’s in your closet is by taking it all out, no top left behind! That way you’ll know exactly what you have, and know exactly what you’ve been wearing and not wearing. Try to make it fun by putting on some music or watching some Netflix.
2. "Keep" or "Give Away"
Now it’s time to decide what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of. Make a “keep” pile and a “give away” pile so that you can keep track. If you have two items that are similar and you’re not sure which one to get rid of, just try on both and see which one you like best. Once you’re done, get a box and put all of your “give away” clothes inside.
*Pro Tip*: If you’re not sure whether or not you want to get rid of some clothes, find that middle ground by hiding those clothes in a box in your closet for a month to see if you end up needing them to wear. If you realize at the end of the month that you didn’t even think about those clothes let alone wear them, that’s a for sure sign that you really don’t need them after all!
3. Sell or donate the “Give Away” clothes
Selling your clothes is a great idea if you’re trying to make some extra money. You can sell it online through a clothes selling app or you can give it to consignment or Goodwill. It’s a great way to clean out your closet in a way that’s efficient.
4. Organize your closet
There’s a couple of ways you can go about re-organizing your closet. One way you could organize it is by color coordinating them from lightest to darkest. Another way that you could organize them is by sorting them from lightest fabric to warmest fabric (which is what I do) or vice versa. That way you don’t have to go digging in the back your closet for that top you want to wear.
These are some easy and fun ways to clean your closet next time you're up for the challenge! You’ll feel much better after you’ve cleansed and decluttered, and it’ll give you room for some new things you need!
